Hopefully you wouldn't. That's why all children should have their spines examined as early as possible, by a Doctor of Chiropractic.
It makes much more sense to correct a young persons spine in a short period of time before they suffer from pain and symptoms......... than to let their problems go on and on for decades, left uncorrected, until eventually they wind up in crisis, with the possibility of being left with permanent damage and degeneration!
Dr. Austin also takes the time to educate his patients about the importance of spinal maintenance care. Maintenance care means getting your spine checked anywhere from once a week to once a month, to maintain the spinal corrections that have been acheived with chiropractic corrective care. It is a complete waste of time, money and effort to get your spine corrected, and then NOT maintain the corrections! Your problems will usually return within 1 year, and before you know it......you'll have to get your problems corrected all over again!
Many of Dr. Austin's patients are wellness or maintenance patients with little or NO symptoms. These patients get regular chiropractic maintenance adjustments so that they stay HEALTHY and WITHOUT symptoms.
Many elderly patients have been told that because they have arthritis or osteoporosis, or because they are too old, that they should not get chiropractic care. Once again, this is nonsense.
There is no such thing as being too old for an adjustment. Geriatric patients benefit just as much from chiropractic care, as do younger people. Dr. Austin adjusts patients with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis on a daily basis, with excellent results.
As far as osteoporosis is concerned, any competent Doctor of Chiropractic knows when he needs to modify his adjusting technique to specifically suit a
particular patient. Dr. Austin has worked with a number of osteoporotic patients with very good results.
Dr. Austin uses mainly diversified and Thompson spinal adjusting techniques, as well as the Activator technique. While some Chiropractors limit their scope of practice solely to the spine, Dr. Austin also specializes in extremity adjusting. In fact, Dr. Austin routinely adjusts shoulders, elbows, wrists (carpal bones), feet, ankles, knees and even ears with great results. In fact over half of his patients receive one or more extremity adjustment along with their spinal adjustment. Dr. Austin prides himself on being extremely proficient at extremity adjusting, a skill which many Chiropractors are lacking.
